It all can be seen to start when the Windows logo is up and the three blue squares are moving along the bar, the squares then start moving across the bar about 20 times faster and then all hell breaks loose with the processor at 100% and the start up taking a few seconds, when logging in various things seem to encounter problems e.g. AVG and Zone Alarm and the Windows tune doesn't get past the first note before processing continues. If I am able to get task manager to initialise there are various processes being called and the CPU usage list is changing faster that the eye can take in. As Zone Alarm was seemingly the main thing being affected I have de-installed/re-installed but the problem continued while it was de-installed. Running Windows XP Home Edition.I have run a boot time Avast virus scan (nothing), the only software recently loaded is iTunes v8.The situation doesn't occur once the system has started normally. I've had blue screen of death 3 times now with S3gnb device driver stuck in infinite loop. This might explain some of the crazy processing going on. Does anybody know where/how I can update my graphics/video drivers without buying a full software package. Have looked at manufacturers site and can't figure it out from there. Chord Posted November 16, 2008 Author Report Share Posted November 16, 2008 After months of weird and wonderful problems finally wiped the disk and reloaded windows, installed a minimum of drivers using Driver Magic and problem came back!!!! (XP Professional not XP Home)Uninstalled drivers on a least likely requires first basis and problems went away when modem driver HSP56 MR-M8375 was removed.Now gone 3 days without a problem.Can't find anybody else having experienced any similar problems with this driver.
