mn6902
Problem: E-mail freezes up. The arrow cursor becomes a hand-shaped cursor. The only way to fix this is to reboot, which I have to do very often. When I hit Ctrl-Alt-Del, a box appears that says "SMC Not Responding". The hand cursor does nothing. Then I have to Ctrl-Alt-Del again to close Internet Explorer and reboot. The screen always re-appears in Safe Mode. "SMC Not Responding" appears in e-mail and freezes it whether I am in Safe Mode or Active Screen Mode. This happens very frequently and has become a major problem.I have Windows Me,Version 4.9. The C drive file system is FAT32. My e-mail provider is Comcast Cable, which works within Internet Explorer (I have IE version 6.0.2800.1106IC, Update Version SP1. Can anyone help me? What does SMC stand for? What is SMC and what does it do? How can I repair this? I am very much a novice regarding computers. Thanks very much,Mike
rong
It appears to be something to do with Sygate personal firewall, If you have this and the latest version that could be your problem, Have a look at this http://www.spywareinfoforum.com/lofiversio...php/t57739.html
