Boris Posted August 17, 2003 Report Share Posted August 17, 2003 Not sure what causes this !e-Machines 550 (Freeserve Anytime Dial up)Windows XP HomeECS L4S5MG mobo SiS 650 chipset Award BIOS V.6.00 PGWhenever it disconnects from the net - the phone rings and the message "you have not been charged for this call" is there when you answer it. The PC also turns on by itself whenever the phone rings - even if its not in a "Hibernate" state.I've looked through the BIOS settings and can't find anything under Power Management about "Wake on ......".Doesn't seem to be anything in Control Panel ?I don't run XP myself, so I'm baffled.Any ideas ???? However modems do have a bring machine out of standby ability.You should find this in the device properties in device manager.I have no idea why the phone rings back after a session though.Mr. M.
