badgerbeard Posted November 2, 2008 Report Share Posted November 2, 2008 good lord. sometimes pc's just do your head in. from having stable and reliable good quality WMP video playback yesterday, today i found that suddenly i can't open any files (audio or video) in media player - windows explorer crashed with an error EVERY TIME. the error details were showing module 'libavcodec.dll' as the cause this file is part of ffdshow which is an a/v codec for divx among others. anyway i've downloaded and reinstalled ffdshow in its entirety (after just trying to replace the dll file on its own with the latest available version, but to no avail) and the quality is shite - and playback is jerky like it's missing frames.so i actually decided to completely uninstall ffdshow and WMP still plays the files (AVI's) but still with the same poor video quality and jerkiness.i guess that a codec has been updated or changed, but i don't know what to do next as I have spent some time trying to find the answer and resolved myself.. hence resorting to the forum for help. thanks in advance for any advice Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I installed my mirror image only yesterday after trying out a program that slowed everything down. badgerbeard Posted November 3, 2008 Author Report Share Posted November 3, 2008 I am using XP (SP3)Yes it shows eligible restore dates highlighted in bold on the displayed calendar.Doesn't matter which of these I select, when I select the 'System Checkpoint' and proceed it eventually comes back and says that the system cannot be restored.
