Alan2273 Posted November 5, 2008 Report Share Posted November 5, 2008 A friends hard drive has failed, and he has asked me to fit a new one, but he has lost his origonal XP Home disk.What I would like to know is can I install the XP OS from my disk and use his COA sticker (on the side of his computer) to do the install or is my disk tied to my COA. andsome Posted November 5, 2008 Report Share Posted November 5, 2008 I believe that you can use yours if it is exactly the same. I don't think that you can use a dedicated disk used to install on a named brand of computer. Someone will no doubt correct me if I am wrong. I alway wonder how the hell people manage to loose system discs. All mine are in the same place safe and sound.
