Looking at pics in e-mail and on internet.

Many times when I have a picture, graphic, etc. on my screen, surrounded by a box, all I see is a small box in the frame with a red X. I was told that I could fix this (i.e., be able to see the picture and not have the red X) by installing Java. I went to a Java download site and got this:

You have the recommended Java installed (Version 6 Update 10).

I still get the red X and can not see some pictures. What am I doing wrong? Also, I looked in my Program list and could not find the Java program. Where is it (any suggestions on where to look)?

Which program list are you looking in?

Java doesn't appear in the All Programs list from the Start menu but is seen in the list contained in Add/Remove programs (Control Panel -> Add/remove).

The Java Control Panel also appears in the main Windows Control Panel.
