Jin597 Posted November 11, 2008 Report Share Posted November 11, 2008 I'm having an interesting problem that I haven't found a solution for and is wondering if anyone can help me.I've noticed that when I'm typing (in any program), when I click space bar, I sometimes get two spaces instead of one.I thought perhaps at first it was my mistake, but the frequency of it happening as well as I don't do this on other computers points me to a real issue.I've tried googling this, but no luck... likely due to my googling ;)to recap,Win XP Protyping along, two spaces will appear between words rather than one (intermitent but enough to be annoying)can't replicate on other machinesHopefully someone has an idea of what might be causing it. doug Posted November 11, 2008 Report Share Posted November 11, 2008 It's possible that you've got some crud inside. When this happened to me I took it all apart and gave mine a good scrub!. Joking really but a clean might be in order. First back everything up. Switch off and unplug. Make a sketch of where all the keys go, 'cause you don't want them going back in the wrong place. Unplug it from your PC. Turn upside down and you should be able to undo it from the back. Separate and be prepared to be horrified as to how much rubbish has collected. Don't get any liquids onto the printed wiring board but you may find that there is a flexible membrane that you can wash. Similarly with the keys was with a little washing-up liquid rinse and dry. Allow to dry, overnight at least then re-assemble and re-test. Keyboards are relatively cheap so you can't go wrong except do ensure that everything is very dry. It didn't do this when the laptop was unpackaged, just a recent start.I used compressed air to make sure there was nothing obstructing the key. As it doesn't happen to other keys, I'm leaning towards hardware issue, but not sure as it doesn't do it all the time.I've also tried with a USB keyboard, and it was ok with that... so I guess it must be hardware.
