raphaelfargeon
Hello I have some questions : I bought a dell laptop in US and I chose English language at the Vista Home Premium installation screen. Now, I am located in France. :DYou have maybe heard about the ultimate steal : an upgrade to Windows Vista Ultimate for just 59.95 $ : http://www.microsoft.com/student/discounts...us/default.aspx1) Do you know if it will work if I buy the french upgrade to Ultimate ? ("The Ultimate Steal for french" here the website if you want : http://www.microsoft.com/student/discounts...r/default.aspx : The file for the upgrade after buying is a X14-68064.exe file instead of the X14-63452.exe (These files are for 32 bits).2) If it will not work, can I make a clean installation of Vista (with the recovery DVD or reset to factory settings) a choose french as Vista language and after install the french upgrade? (I think I could choose between different languages when I first turned on my laptop but I need your confirmation) 3) If I can indeed choose between different languages, does it mean that all (or almost) languages are included in Vista ? y2khardtop
I don't know, although I suspect you probably can use French. There are likely some French speaking users in the US, so I don't know any reason it wouldn't work. However, I don't know why you'd want to do this. With the exception of Bit Lock and Texas Holdum, Vista ulitimate really doesn't offer anything over Home Premium
y2khardtop
oh, and why don't you just try it?? If you have access to a Vista CD, it contains all version of Vista. You have 60 days (at least) to activate. I'd try it, and if it works, you can reinstall with the updated key. Just DON'T enter a key when you do your trial or it will lock you into home premium. Dencandy
You could install it on separate hard disk or even partition (if you have enough space), I think.

y2khardtop
all you need to do is backup your "users" folder to an external drive, which you SHOULD be doing anyway! Or as suggested, install on a separate drive or partition.
