Thanks ellas, this looks interesting

"It is also sometimes possible to literally massage a dead pixel back to life. You can try (at your own risk) gently rubbing the surface of the LCD screen in the location of a dead pixel, which sometimes will stimulate the pixel back to life. How hard you decide to rub is left to your discretion. If you cause any damage to the screen, that's your responsibility."

I cannot seem to get to the LCD test site.http://www.nearside.com/EkimSW/LCDtest/index.html

even opening http://www.nearside.com/ isn't finding the link.

It's a shame really as it WAS a brilliant monitor. It is switchable between t.v. dvd audio and P.C.http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/index.cfm?go=hardware.view&product=657

Thanks ellas for that. Iam going to have to work through that link in detail to get the right one.

If it was an apple or ibook or nokia phone then there are plenty. I can't really see much hope for it really.

The strange thing is that I have never ever claimed any thing from the insurance. Always happy to have it there for a disaster. Then two weeks ago as I was rushing out, I went to pick up the sony clie pda of the coffee table and it dropped on to the wooden floor. result half of the display came up, with distorted icons and the other half of the screen was blank. It has or had :D a swivel display and by applying a small amount of pressure to the top of the display then the screen would start to widen.

The upshot was to say sodd it and I rang our insurers. No problem they said, pay the excess £50 and I received a new one in three days. They didn't even want to see the old one or send it to them.

So at the moment I am steering clear of lcd screens. :smart:
