dewni Posted December 27, 2008 Report Share Posted December 27, 2008 i am sorry if this is in the wrong place, if so please move it mods. also sorry if this is posted elsewhere but i couldnt be bothered to dig for it. i had installed ubuntu as a dual boot, didnt like it and dumped everything from my computer to my portable hdd. then i re did my computer with a recovery disc back to factory settings, but my local disc still reads at 260gb free. i have a 320gb hard disc so im not sure why its doing this. i deleted the partition with the windows partition program on vista, but now its just the old partition (30gb) as "Free Space''. i was just wondering if anyone has the know-how to get this lost space put back in with my Local C: disc.thanks Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Hb_Kai Posted December 27, 2008 Report Share Posted December 27, 2008 One is your HP partition.1 is your recovery probably used by the manufacturer's recovery disc telling where to load the recvery from or something.The green one is free space, and I don't know what that 1.22GB is.Was your second OS on that partition?If you want to change it you'd have to edit your HP partition to an extra 27.38GB, but then you won't have the other 1.22GB and 8.79 GB becaue they're already being used.I don't know how to edit this, the only way I know of is reformatting but there may be another way. AlanHo Posted December 29, 2008 Report Share Posted December 29, 2008 The software I use to create, delete and merge partitions on a hard drive is Paragon Partition Magic.I got my copy FOC supplied with a magazine. The free trials you find via google are probably limited to a virtual demo. Hence you will probably need to buy the full copy.There may be other partion managers available that are free - but I stick to a tried and tested paid for one to carry out such an important and potentially risky procedure..
