Language Issues

Hi all,

I work for a small business and we recieve e-mails from german clients, however when viewing these e-mails using office 2007 they appear in a bunch of strange characters, when using other versions of office this appears okay. Im guessing we need to install some sort of language pack however the Microsoft website has not been particularly helpful. Would anyone be able to help with this?

Welcome to the Windows Forum.

Can you tell us a little bit more...

  • You are using Outlook 2007?
  • Are you using Word as an email editor?
  • What encoding are these incoming messages set to?
  • Are they HTML messages, and if so, what are the fonts used in the message?

  • With Microsoft Outlook open, touch the coloured ball on the top left-hand side to open the options.
  • Then on the bottom right, touch Editor Options - Popular - Personalize your copy of Microsoft Office - Language Settings.
  • Ensure that English UK is enabled in the right-hand box. If not, find it down the list on the left and move it to the right.
  • Finally, select - Primary Editing Language, in the bottom section, to English UK.

Hopefully, it should be OK then. :)
