Installed new hard drive, re-installed Dell OS, no Modem

I crashed my hard drive and reinstalled XP on a new Seagate Barracuda 160 GB drive. Hit F6 to load drivers. Modem would not work. Downloaded (other computer) what I think is the correct driver for this Dell XPS 210 with an embedded modem on the mother board. Tried to load the driver which is an .exe file from a thumb drive and got a error message “no disk drive” ?? I can see the drive file on the thumb drive on the said computer. It wanted to load the driver in c:/dell/drivers but would not load. I created a c:/dell/drivers folder but no dice, would not load.

I look in Device Manager and there is no Modem folder??

I noticed on the Dell reinstallation disc it mentions that all drivers are not on the operating system CD. It would seem to me that there would be some supplemental service pack for this, has anyone heard of this problem?

Thank you for the suggestion. I tried loading it from the desktop and it looked like it was going to do then I got the following error message; "Driver installation failed: could not find modem device for this driver."

It's like the embedded modem has been disabled, removed???? I'm sure it's probably within the circuitry of the motherboard.
