hot-doc Posted January 3, 2009 Report Share Posted January 3, 2009 HiI'll be very grateful if someone can help me with thisI have a dell dimension desktop (4 years old) that runs Win XP SP3(updated)Zone alarm firewall(always on) AVG free Antivirus ( updated and on)Since last week, I have had the machine slow down and repeated pop-ups with messages like free virus scan or advertising adult websites.Twice, the computer has hanged and needed restarting (using reset button)Have tried using adaware and spybot to scan and repair but the problem doesn't go away.Could anyone help, please!Thanks Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Boris Posted January 3, 2009 Report Share Posted January 3, 2009 If the Trend scan doesn't fix it ....Download this :-http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.phpInstall + update it and do a quick scan (few minutes).If it finds anything, let it delete it (it may ask you to reboot to kill off certain nasties)and then run a full scan of your H/Ds which could take an hour.
