iamgregor Posted January 5, 2009 Report Share Posted January 5, 2009 I had some kind of problem that I'm guessing is video card related. I didn't make any changes, but I was playing a graphics intensive game when the computer locked. I tried rebooting and it wouldn't so I went to safe mode and dinked around for a while. I eventually installed an older video card driver and managed to get it to boot and it worked for awhile. Today I got the BSOD and couldn't even get it into safemode.Now I'm trying to get it to do a repair install by running the XP disc, but when it goes to the options for installing, it doesn't detect my previous installation and give me the option of doing the repair. Dencandy Posted January 5, 2009 Report Share Posted January 5, 2009 If you can't get into safe mode & XP Repair can't recognise your system, it seems like either you have a major hardware failure (Hard disk failure being most likely option) or your operating system is corrupted beyond repair or both. iamgregor Posted January 6, 2009 Author Report Share Posted January 6, 2009 What was originally a vid card issue appears to have become a windows system and file error. I'm going to install Win XP to a USB drive or second hard drive and run disk utils on the first to see if that works.
