Serpent7 Posted January 12, 2009 Report Share Posted January 12, 2009 Hi, I had linux installed with GRUB on a 2nd partition just fine, but decided to delete the partition from Vista recently.Now when I turn on my PC, it tries to start GRUB and fails, and I am stuck. Remove the hard disk and use a computer with a CD/DVD rom to either run supergrub or the Vista install media3. Install a really small linux partition (like puppylinux - 50mb) and point Grub to itSorry, I guess I'm a Linux noob- I have no CDs or DVDs with which to write on; I only have a 1G pen drive. I can put stuff on the pen drive from another computer, but that's about it. I tried installing a small linux distro on the pen drive and going from there, but I can't fix the problem. Seshomaru Samma Posted January 15, 2009 Report Share Posted January 15, 2009 do you have a Vista install media? you can borrow one from a friend , it doesn't have to be the exact same disc you used to install your system (though it has to be the same version of Vista)do you have a Linux CD , like Ubuntu or something? how did you install Linux in the first place?I can help you with the Linux on pendrive but first you need to tell me what errors/ difficulties you encounter.( Puppylinux would probably be the easiest ) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Serpent7 Posted January 15, 2009 Author Report Share Posted January 15, 2009 I get a cylinder error; the page says to do this:* Backup every data on your pendrive (if there is something important ;) ) * Rpartition it so that you have an ext3 or a FAT32 partition at its beginning of only 300 MB. * Install SGD into it as it is explained in the instructionsBut I've no idea how...
