Outlook 2003 issue

I need some help in troubleshooting an Outlook issue that two users made aware.

The issue is, when an email is deleted a message pops up stating an Unknown error has occurred that Outlook has to shutdown. I cannot remember what the message would say but in order to get past the message is to click OK and it would shutdown Outlook and then start it back up. It's been increasingly occuring for both usesrs averaging 3-7 a day.

I have tried scanning the pst file, renaming an outcmd.dat to rebuild it when outlook starts, recreated the profile, and even reformatted one computer.

Anyone have any suggestions? I've already posted this on Microsoft Discussion Group for outlook.

It is Outlook 2003 w/SP3, Windows XP SP3, Exchange 2003.

I have been on 2007 for some time now, so it's a bit vague in my mind.

However, have you tried a repair, which I think is listed under the Help link on the top bar.

You might need the Office disk during the repair process.

It's called Detect and Repair, and it is indeed under the Help menu.

To find more information on what may be causing the problem, check the Event Viewer (Applications) for the time when the Outlook crash occurs.

That was the first thing I did before the other alternatives.

The logs on one machine are: "The description for Event ID (1000) in Source (Microsoft Office 11) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. I don't know if THIS Microsoft Support Article will help, but it could be worth looking through. :)

I might just have to talk to my Sys Admin to get them up to 2007 because reformatting, detect repair, renaming outlook files, etc didn't do the trick.
