Are you sure the user folders are still there or not? They could be. To check go to:

My Computer -> C -> Users, and their corresponding folder should be in there.

To be honest with you, I'm not sure unless you're using it as a Slave as the only method I knew of, I found out from Boris I think, it can't be done when the drive's in use.

The only other thing I could recommend is that you manually go through everything and delete what you don't want.

Control Panel -. Add/Remove Programs

Delete users from User Settings options in Control Panel too. Deleting their account will give you a choice to also delete their files and folders or move them on to another account. Delete what you don't want from them.

Go through the most used folders and delete everything from them. Most used folders - My Documents, My Music, My Pictures, Recycle Bin, etc.

Another thing; sometimes when you permanently delete software, their program files folder will stay put in program files. Change this by deleting the folders to the programs that you've deleted.

And, defragging, cleaning the disc, scanning it, and every other scan + clean method you can think of. But this would take a whole day, maybe more - depending on the size of the hard drive ofcourse.

Sorry I can't help much. But someone here should be able to a bit better though.

Good luck. :)

By the way. Did you get the list of all the software people on here recommended? I think I was supposed to add another one but am not sure if I did or not.

Just incase I didn't, another good program is Secunia PSI. It scans all of the programs/software you have installed on your PC and checks if they're out-of-date (in need of updates), and Secunia PSI will give you a link to the official website where you can download the necessary updates from.

Secunia PSI Download Page

and also, Pat posts updates in the updates section for this very program. I think they're Pat's posts anyway.

EDIT:- Checked: Yup. They're Pats.

Hi Amy!

What computer (make & model) is it? Some computer manufacturers put a setup / reset partition on the disk, and you can completely reset your computer to its initial settings if you have such a partition. If not, then the only way to reinstall Windows is to buy a disk.

Windows 7 is not yet released; what can be downloaded is the first beta test version, but it should be used for testing only, and it will expire on August 1st.
