Check disc question.

When I used to check the disc in W 98, the summary was there until closed. However, something that has always puzzled me with XP, is that the summary flashes up and disappears much too quickly to be of much use. I just have time to see 0 bytes in bad sectors, and then the summary disappears. If by chance one day there was a problem, would this window automatically stay open until closed by me? :D

My pure guess is it will depend on how you run checkdisk:

If you ticked boxes 'Automatically fix errors' then XP is unlikely to wait for user input.

If checkdisk was started automatically (e.g. as a result of ungraceful shutdown) then the scenario will vary depending on severity of disk damage.

I like to run it occasionally. I always just about have time to see that all is well if I happen to be there when it finishes. I am just wondering whether if all was NOT well, would the warning also disappear quickly or would it stay on the screen? :D
