Screen goes black at startup

Recommended Posts

Hi, recently my computer encountered some sort of a virus I deleted in and then restarted.

It goes through all the loading fine and the windows vista loads but then the screen just goes blank.

I have tried system restore and hitting ctrl + alt + del nothing works I managed to start the computer in safe mode but I don't know what to do....

I am not that smart with computers so please put it in words I can understand...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks very much, Adam.

Welcome to the Windows Forum.

What kind of virus? How did you "delete" it?

You usually need some good anti-virus software to detect and remove virus infections. What anti-virus software do you have installed? Any other anti-malware tools you have?

Im not sure what kind of virus it was but yes I deleted it completely.

I have Trend Micro Internet security and it has been working fine for me.

Yes, you can access System Restore after starting in Safe Mode. After you start in Safe Mode you should get an option to continue in Safe Mode or to go to System Restore. Just follow the instructions & restore to a date & time before the infection. Note that with System Restore all input is done with the keyboard - so use Enter instead of clicking with the mouse & use up & down arrows to navigate through menus.
