Hb_Kai
Is there any way possible you can get your very own domain which isn't owned besides you by some other company like Bravenet or something?
-pops-
Going it alone would be next to impossible. What is wrong with using a hosting service? I've never had any problems.
Hb_Kai
I'm wondering. How do the companies get the space?
ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
It's the registrars that sell domain names. What kind of domain name do you want:.com ?.co.uk ?.info ?.name ?...For instance, if you'd like to have a domain name hbkai.something, you can go to http://www.name.com/ (or any other registrar), type hbkai into the search box, and it will show you what hbkai domains are available, and how much they cost.Of course, once you have obtained the domain name, you will still need someone to host the website. Hb_Kai
Can you not do this on your own by setting up a web server and host the domain name on your web server?
ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
Yes, you can do that. You will need to connect it to a domain name server - your registrar can supply that.
