Local Printers stopped working but network still works

After an install of .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 Update (which added Microsoft XPS as a printer option), my local printers will not work, but my network printer will. They all worked prior to the update. I sucessfully did a system restore and the update and XPS are gone, but local printers still won't print.

I noticed that in the Printers & Faxes tab the network printer's status shows "Ready" whereas my 2 local printers show "offline" after starting the computer. Even if I click on the local printers, and change them to "online" status, the print jobs make it to the print que but will not print. The job returns a "print error" message on my screen. Anyone got an idea on how to get these local printers to startup in the "online" status and print like they used to?

Thanks
