right now i am on my Vista original HDD #1

and i have install the XP on the second HDD #2

to keep it separate from the other HDD and i dont think

partition on the same original is a good idea

i chose whatever i boot from

now to business

i have a month of so ago got a legal version of windows XP

i have registered it and it is genuine

recently i went to this site to find out if i can info on mac on pc based computer

the site is lawlessly pc something like that

well i ok what seems to be ok but then it tell me i have trojans and infection

and i have done a few things and did not seems to whatever do right

but i use ctrl+alt+del and to shut it down i could not close but force it to shut the ie down

also what appears to be a window warning dialog box and could not shut that down either

and something like anti virus scan and something like avast not sure the name but close

i went to my HDD #1 after restarting and i did a antivirus scan and found nothing on the HDD #2

ok and then i went back to HDD #2 and to turn off all the stuff and trying to get in the safe mode

and but the first was that i turn a lot stuff off and restarted a few times

ok here is the worried part not concern yet is show that i need to register windows in 3days which i have not

tried that because i fear it may trying to trick me to click to hijack my XP license if it have not done already

which i afraid it may have already ___ but i already registered it a month or so and it i suspect it a red flag to me

and i have eventually got to safe mode because i did a researchon google in the file(s) ANIWZCS2

the info i got was about the d-link wireless modem which i am using it on my HP desktop

and also found out about the file could be a Trojan or virus

and i did delete the whole file that is ANIWZCS2 and it sub folders too

i have been getting internet but i dont know if the file was install when i did the d-link installation or what

but even though i deleted the file i sitll see the d-link folder and still have internet

and i got back on the regular pc mode

and still see the register in 3 days and i no desire to click that since i registered

but it mention something on the log on screen that window had been change dramticaly since i did the config turninng stuff off

and even though i did the safe mode

and i have not re install XP yet

i need some input

right now i will stay on my HDD #1 for now

since i feel it is ok

not sure about the HDD #2

if i have to re install XP first i will do a format of the HDD disconnecting the HDD #1

How does that change anything? You bought the CD, not the computer with the OS installed?

ok the window restore did not work

i have used this years ago

and to back date it

never had any luck

i consider the window restore is a biggest piece of junk

it is such a failure

the backdate which should at least show a month back

there is no option other than the most recent which was not log ago

earlier today

that is far i can get it

i will post a new one about the window restore

Your Restore Points may not work if you have deleted a file from them (even an infected file). System Restore is an excellent utility which can save you a lot of headaches.

To check if the Windows website is genuine use IE7 (which has anti-phishing) or Web of Trust (THIS LINK).

You don't have to register Windows if don't want to, it's an optional feature. What you have to do if you want updates, etc is to ACTIVATE it. See this link: ACTIVATE WINDOWS from Microsoft.

i did not do any windows related delete other than the file

that i have mention

for some reason on the failure of restore of window

did not work and had not made any adjustments

and it suppose to work but in my case all have failed

and why i cant backdate it far enough

i do not know why it could have been done by the

recent virus or attack to prevent me of restoring it

many attacks have been pretty crafty why

those who made know pretty well and know

how to compromise folks window OSes and or computers

their are just plan mean folks like to play games or

get even or what ever

i just wish window make a particular type of restore

that when can do from windows or have a way to burn

the restore type to a disc which mean the update and

it is the responsilibity of the owner to mark and track them

that way it can not be altered by virus or whatever

and we have a way to get it back without all the hassle to restore

the whole OS and install all that back in

which in the Pain in the pulling out our hair out to get back

using our computer functionally

Well, there are programs like Deep Freeze (HERE) from Faronics which makes an exact copy of all your system programs & set up, which you can use to restore everything later.

There's also so-called imaging software, like Acronis (see item in menu across the top of the WF screen) which will make an exact copy of a disk or partition which can be used to restore later.

Both these programs have to be purchased but there might be free alterntives available. They can be quite complex to use, in my experience.

You can also use the Windows backup utility to make a copy of the system registry, settings etc. Since this is part of Windows it's free of course.

i dont have an external drive to copy that

but i prefer to have it on disc

and to note i dont want to have to burn a lot of discs

to make exact copy and

to image copy it will need a large enough partition

which is not an option by my preference

and will need a HDD of enough capacity to do a image copy

I think what you want to do is impossible, given your hardware limitations. Well you can always re-install Windows again since you have a genuine installation disk.

By the way, you can increase the number of restore points by increasing the amount of memory you allocate to System Restore. Open System Restore, click on System Restore Settings, click on Settings and you'll get a screen that enables you to access each disk or partition to adjust the amount of memory reserved for SR.
