geordie_john Posted February 22, 2009 Report Share Posted February 22, 2009 hello i am trying to reinstall windows vista home premium on my dell inspiron 1501 laptop,i put the cd in and all went ok unitl i got the above message and now i cannot do anything,does any one know how i can set the laptop back to factory settings please?thank you. Boris Posted February 22, 2009 Report Share Posted February 22, 2009 It should be something along these lines :-Press the F8 key as you boot - until the Advanced Boot Options menu appears on the screen. Press the (Down Arrow) to select "Repair Your Computer" on the Advanced Boot Options menu.Press Enter.Choose the language you want, and then click Next. Log in as a user who has admin access, and then click OK. Click "Dell Factory Image Restore"In the Dell Factory Image Restore window, click Next. Click to select the check box for "Yes, reformat hard drive and restore system software to factory condition".Click Next. The computer will then be restored to the default factory configuration.When the restore operation is completed, click "Finish" to restart the computerPlease note that this will remove everything that has been installed/added (programs, data/files etc.) since new Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
