ScanState on XP Pro to a network share - [ERROR=1265 (4F1h)] - Server

Just a little annoyed. (Been working on this on/off again all day, currently 2:30AM... so sorry if this post doesn't sound as polite as it should, I'm tired, OK? :lol:)

Working my way through some 70-270 exam study materials, came across a thing called ScanState.exe.

Decided to do the labs, so I'm following along with the text, using Windows XP Pro [XP1]. I made a network share within my WORKGROUP, using my other Windows XP [XP2] installation.

Got the following error (saved this to a log);

Error		 This computer is not joined to a domain. [ERROR=1332 (534h)]

So I thought, "Hmm". And installed Server 2008, though had a lot of hassle in the process, (see my other topic).

Finally got the domain up and running and XP1 and XP2 both added to the domain, and running off of it.

Went back to ScanState.exe to give it another go. This time my network share was created on my Server 2008 installation. Took a lot longer this time, unfortunately... I still got an error (tried on both XP1 and XP2).

The error was different this time (see below);

Error		 Cannot create transport directory \\Server2008\Profile\USMT2I.UNC [ERROR=1265 (4F1h)]

Module Error  An error occurred while saving data. Can't continue. [ERROR=1265 (4F1h)]

Please tell me what I need to do in order to get ScanState working the way it should be.

BTW: All these Operating systems are running on VMware.

Most recently, VMware Fusion 2.0.2, though the XP Pro installations have been run on VMware Workstation 6.5.1 as well, host being either Vista x32 or Vista x64.

2x Windows XP Pro SP3 (with latest updates)

512MB of RAM (1 per installation)

1 Processor (2.4GHz [for each?])

40GB SCSI Hard-Drive (1 per installation)

1x Windows Server 2008 Enterprise SP1 (with latest updates)

2GB of RAM

Hello

Great news everyone.

I was planning on having my next Domain based off of Server 2003 (instead of Server 2008). So I downloaded the Trial for the Enterprise edition from Microsoft.

Meanwhile, I was working on both XP1 and XP2 virtual images, when, unfortunately, they both corrupted

So I started all over again, then switched to Workstation 6.5.1 to clone the image, then went back to Fusion 2.0.2.

Now I have 2 working XP virtual machines.

Messed around for seriously way longer then should've been neccesary to get everything working the way I wanted it to, on the domain.

Finally, at 3:10AM, I solved my problem!

2x XP Pro (with Different Comp Names and User Names)

1x Server 2003 Enterprise

I tested the share I made first, and after fiddling around with it for a VERY LONG TIME, I finally got, from both the XP machines, a dialogue box asking for User Name and Password to access the share.

Gave the needed credentials, and was able to access the share.

I tried twice (one with XP3 the other with XP4)

BOTH WORKED

Now, onto the next thing... :lol:
