samnyc
Hi All, In my home, I have Linksys Wireless G router. The connection works great, never had any issue. On my laptop, I re-installed Windows XP pro. I installed all the drivers. Under device-manager, every thing is good. No error message. But now wireless is not working. keeps saying trying to acquire IP address. But my wife laptop, she has HP, she has no problem. I take the laptop to library and I am able to get on the internet. My Laptop, I have is IBM T42. Using the IBM ThinkVantage Access connection, using WEP as the security. Please help. Thanks.

samnyc
Does your wife and you have the same driver on your laptops? And is the driver the same as your old one?She has HP Laptop, what ever the driver that came with HP is what she has. I have IBM laptop, I got the drivers from IBM web site. I am not sure if it's same as old or not. I don't remember what I had before. I don't think the probem is on the driver because when I take the laptop to library, it's working there. But there is no security it's open to every thing. In my home, I have the WEP enabled. Any idea?
Hb_Kai
It might be that your wireless card isn't compatible with the wireless encryption. Which I think is something that the driver manages.
