Dodle Posted February 24, 2009 Report Share Posted February 24, 2009 I just built a computer with a P4 mainboard. Everything works great except the case's front USB panel. It has a different pin configuration than the board. The case is from an older compaq. Below are some pictures of the different pin configurations. I've found plenty of information on the pin config for the motherboard, which seems to be more common. But I cannot figure out the layout on the case. -pops- Posted February 24, 2009 Report Share Posted February 24, 2009 I think the problem is that Compaq (and certain other large manufacturers) use non standard components and hardware configurations to try an prevent what you are doing - using their old case for a new machine.To obviate any possibility of error, what I suggest you do is ignore the pinout on the case and either install a new combination USB/Firwire/card reader/whatever in an available drive bay or use a PCI card and or external USB connector.
