Train Posted March 31, 2009 Report Share Posted March 31, 2009 A couple of weeks ago I started having problems with pictures and videos that are embeded in internet pages not showing. Things like YOUTUBE videos, pictures added to posts on forums etc. I tried restoring to a few weeks before the problem started but it didn't help. The strange thing is it's not all pages just certain ones. It also happens on sites I frequently visit.I've never had this happen before. Any ideas? Train Posted April 1, 2009 Author Report Share Posted April 1, 2009 Yah I'm sure it would. windows xp homeIE v6I know my IE is outdated but I just like it better than the new versions. But --- if that's the problem then I guess that's the problem. Again, everything was fine up untill about two weeks ago, even with the old IE version. Websites change all the time, and it is quite possible that some do no longer maintain backwards compatibility with old browsers like IE6. Train Posted April 1, 2009 Author Report Share Posted April 1, 2009 Cleared everything, updated Java and Flash. Have not tried any other browser but on one site I visit where the owner makes video tutorials, most show up on the screen, some don't and then newer one's will. I've emailed the guy and he says all his tutorials are done the same way. Wouldn't that rule out a browser problem? andsome Posted April 1, 2009 Report Share Posted April 1, 2009 There is NO reason now not to be using I.E. 7. Some of us have had problems with I.E. 8 and have reverted to 7 again. catgate Posted April 1, 2009 Report Share Posted April 1, 2009 On the surface it would appear as though it is connected to some "Preference" setting somewhere. I would be inclined to download Firefox 3 and give that a try. It is a much more upto date animal than IE6. I have IE6 on a laptop and it leaves a lot to be desired with upto date video and graphics. Train Posted April 1, 2009 Author Report Share Posted April 1, 2009 Okay, I tried firefox and the same thing happened. The page suggests I'm missing a plugin. When I click the missing plugin it says it's Flash Player. I download and install and it says the same thing on my next try. Here's a link to the page I'm using right now.LOL . ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb Posted April 3, 2009 Report Share Posted April 3, 2009 I didn't mean to suggest to uninstall and reinstall Java; just uninstall any older Java versions than 1.6 Update 10.The fact that you cannot find Flash Player in Add/Remove Programs indicates that something is wrong with its installation. Download and run the Flash Player uninstaller from http://www.adobe.com/go/14157, then install it again from http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ - note that there are different installs for Internet Explorer and Firefox. Train Posted April 3, 2009 Author Report Share Posted April 3, 2009 Well we're back in bussiness. I checked a tutorial site and a simple flash game that I like to play and both are good. I know you didn't mean to uninstall java completely but I thought for the few minutes work, what the heck. I kinda figured it was flash related, but " kinda figuring" is about as much computer knowledge as I have. That's why I'm still wondering why some pages were affected and not others.Thank You to everyone who answered and especially you Pat.
