Can Not upload photos to one site.

Hi,

I can not upload photos to one site. I can upload to others with no problem. This one site I have uploaded to with no problems many times before. This has been going on for over a month.

I run XP Pro, Service Pack 3. I have uploaded photos many times with this configuration. Firefox 3.0.6.

Every other day I try different tweaks fo fix the problem.

At first I thought it was browser settings. I use Firefox 3.06. So I went to IE 7.0.5370.11 and had the same problem.

Then I thought it was my Firewall. I use AVG Anti-Virus Free and everything is up to date. I turned my firewall off. Rebooted and still no luck.

Then I tried my wifes laptop. She is not as diligent on installing all the Microsoft updates. Same problem! This made me think I might have some router problems. I use AT&T Uverse with their supplied router. I turned off the firewall there, rebooted. No luck. I put my computer in DMZ, essentially opening everything up....no luck.

Then I was away on a trip for a week. I took a very old laptop. I was on the hotel wireless and I was able to upload with no problems using Firefox 3.0.1.

So I got home, loaded Firefox 3.0.1....no luck!

I downloaded and installed several Microsoft packages just prior to the problem happening. So I uninstalled each and everyone of these packages, one at a time. I would reboot, and try to upload using Firefox, but no luck.

I'm at my wits end. I don't think I have a virus. I scan nightly. I don't think I have malware.

I can't explain why 2 computers on my home network can not upload to 1 site. and yet another older computer can.

When I upload, a progress screen shows various percentages never reaching 100%, then it just goes to a completely white screen named "upload.php"

This past weekend I replaced my C drive with a new hard drive and installed Vista Enterprise with SP1.

I installed Firefox 3.0.7.

And I STILL have the same problem. I don't get it.........

I noticed in the Firefox error console several errors from the website that I can't upload to that says:

"Error in parsing value for property 'filter'. Declaration dropped."

Please, does anyone have any ideas???? This is driving me crazy......

Have you contacted the website about this as they are most likely to know what could be causing the problem? Perhaps they have a helpdesk or a FAQ. You could also try using a search engine to see if anyone else has had this problem (when I searched on Google for "upload .php problems" I got more than 3 million answers!!)

Have you tried adding the site to your Trusted sites list as it may be your cookies settings which are blocking this?

But if was me, I'd just use the old laptop.

I have contacted them to no avail, as I'm not a paying member unfortunately. Their FAQ mentions most problems are with photo viewing and offers help on how to enable referrer information. Something I have tweaked with no success on Firefox.

Believe me I have racked my brain and done search after search for a cure. I have tried alot of tweaks and nothing has worked.

I did add them to the trusted sites, I have shutdown my firewall, I have put my machine in "DMZ" for gaming and nothing has fixed this problem.

What's so frustrating is I have used their site many many times in the past and all of a sudden I can't upload.

The old laptop is an option, but it's on it's last legs and I would really like to get my desktop working correctly. Why does that work and my desktop doesn't now?

Have you tried clearing the cookie to the site? also a link to the site may be helpful

Have you tried Internet Explorer to upload the photos? I ask because I know that some sites (such as Facebook) only seem to work when IE is used with uploading photos.

Yep, I have cleared all private data, cookies etc...

Last night I uninstalled Firefox. Rebooted. Removed any files that were in C Program Files > Firefox

Then I used regedit and removed any and all registry entries for Firefox.

Rebooted. Installed Firefox 3.0.6 and still the same problem

• download, install, and run CCleaner
  
• under Internet Explorer, check 'Temporary Internet Files', but uncheck 'Cookies'
  
• under Firefox (Applications tab), check 'Internet Cache', but uncheck 'Cookies'
  
• click 'Run Cleaner'
  
• install the latest version of Firefox (3.0.8)
  

Now try again.

did as suggested, now running Firefox 3.0.8. Same problem. Redirects me to a blank white page called upload.php......

What's the name of the site you are trying to upload to?

Some more ideas:

Do they have a special program that you have to install first? If so have you tried uninstalling it, then downloading a fresh version?

My guess is that some other program you use has changed some system settings which are now preventing uploading to the site in question.

Also, does the old laptop have XP and the 2 newer ones have Vista? In that case the problem might be with Vista, have a read through THIS BLOG.

Do you have a Restore Point dated before this problem and have you tried using that to restore?

I didn't have to install a program to use their site. All computers involved are XP Pro, no Vista involved.

Very good idea about using a Restore Point....unfortunately I don't have a point to go back to.

I did install Microsoft updates prior to having the problem. I uninstalled each and every one. Rebooted after each uninstall and tried Firefox but not sucess. This was about a month ago that I tried this.

yes, and the bizarre thing is the old laptop works fine from home.

In my mind that rules out the provider and the providers router.....which is AT&T Uverse.

The bizarre thing about the desktop is that a few weekends ago I actually put a new hard drive in and installed a completely new OS Vista......and had the same problem. I would have thought that cookies or internet settings would have definately been take care of with this particular move.........

So I put my old XP Pro hard drive OS disk back in so I could get all my installed programs etc back. But my upload problem is still ongoing.

I just don't get it, I'm ready to start pulling my hair out......!

No, not related to that site.

But I did just get a reply from there tech support. I asked them it they made any changes to their upload scripts and has any other users mentioned problems, they replied: "Yes. We change it. No. No any problems."

Then I asked if they could point me in any direcition for a cure to my particular problems and they replied: "Your system do not support ajax functions. Please check your additional software (e.g. firewall)"

Anybody know what "ajax functions" are and what I need to do to cohabitate with them?

Well, I googled on "Windows + Ajax" and got 29 million results!!!

I only looked at a few and they seemed highly technical. There was this one however from Microsoft Help & Support which might be relevant: WINDOWS & AJAX. One issue is that it seems you need to have Windows Server installed to use AJAX. Way beyond my knowledge though, sorry I can't help any more.

If you do eventually sort this one out it would be helpful if you posted back a brief summary of how you did it. Good luck.

AJAX is a development environment that needs to be enabled on the server side; I am not aware that it needs any runtime environment on the client side. If it does, then the techie should have told you what kind of RTE you need to install.

I know that certain RTEs like .NET Framework or Adobe AIR have AJAX support. But a site requiring installation of such an RTE should really tell you.

OK.....tonight I was able to upload 3 brand new photos.

On the 4th photo which was a previously uploaded photo it failed as before.

Is it possible that they know I'm uploading previously posted photos and only accept new one?

How can they possibly check this?

this is getting so bizarre.......

Now, I guess I have an intermittent problem.

I seems I can load brand new photos.

Previously posted photos (weeks and months before) won't load and I get redirected to the blank white page.

Really weird is that I can upload and re-upload the brand new photos, ie....I can upload them multiple times......

But try to upload a older photo and I can't.....

Hope this makes sense.

Any ideas?

OK....I may be on to something.

I actually edit a lot of my photos.

I was able to post a brand new photo that was unedited.

Then I edited the very same photo, saved it, and was unable to post it.

Question is: is there some attribute or property that gets changed when you save an edited photo.

I use ArcSoft PhotoStudio 5.5

new (untouched, unedited) photos upload fine.....even repeatedly

once I edit the photo, I can't upload it.

Some attribute changes......any ideas?
