cliftonbazaar
I run several web sites on a windows 2003 server with IIS6 running. This is fine for all my websites that have a single web address. The problem occurs when I have sub webs - I don't even know what they are called anymore :(What I mean is www.kingdoms.cliftonbazaar.com -> www.cliftonbazaar.com works.I have set up the host headers in IIS6 for www.kingdoms.cliftonbazaar.com and kingdoms.cliftonbazaar.com but when anyone tries to connect to it they get a 'server not found' error. Can this be done? and if so then how?James
homecomputeraid
I believe what you want to do is create subdomains. Here's a discussion about creating subdomains in a M$ forum:http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsg...p;sloc=&p=
cliftonbazaar
Thanks for the reply.I read the link but unfortunately it doesn't tell me why my sub domains don't work - I have set them up as they specify but nobody can find them :(Just to recap - I put www.kingdoms.cliftonbazaar.com and kingdoms.cliftonbazaar.com into the host headers of IIS6 but nobody can find the websites. My other websites work correctly.

homecomputeraid
Can you ping the domains and sub-domains by name? Have you checked DNS?
cliftonbazaar
I can ping the domains and sub-domains because they are the one IP address, at my friends house I cannot see the sub-domains.

Tanmaya
Hi,The problem occurs when I have sub webs - I don't even know what they are called anymore :(What I mean is www.kingdoms.cliftonbazaar.com -> www.cliftonbazaar.com works.1) Login to your server2) Open IIS 6.0 MMC3) Open websites folder >> Right click on kingdoms.cliftonbazaar.com (it'd be added as domain under IIS already)4) Click on Home Directory Tab >> Browse directory location of cliftonbazaar.com website.5) Click Apply + Ok.You'd be able to view the content of the website instead of 404.
