tommy123 Posted April 21, 2009 Report Share Posted April 21, 2009 Hi AllI am not a techie so please be gentle with me:SERVICE PACK 3 INSTALL PROBLEMI have a compag presario PC with 111gb free space.I disconnected antivirus after scanning.Windows XP. I cannot install service pack 3 via auto updater. It downloads ok but when I go to install this happens:Window Pops Up:"Setup cannot copy the file atapi.sysEnsure the location specified below is correct,or change it and instal 'Windows XP Systems File' in the drive you specify"(please see attached pics )Now the atapi.sys files is in its correct folder(and my cd does work)It then goes onto say service pack not complete and rolls itself back.Any would be much appreciated.Thank you Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

So I checked as per your suggested link, went to alcohol site/uninstall instructionsand discovered one item that I had not deleted.Will start the service pack 3 update and see what happens.Many thanks for your advice,Much appreciated.Will post the result later.
