qawse Posted April 23, 2009 Report Share Posted April 23, 2009 Hello Everyone Can you help ? a couple of weeks ago i upgraded from sp1 to sp2 and all went well everything still worked,my system has never been on the net and is used for recoding with vsti yet all of a sudden my computer keeps trying to connect to the web and during recording i keep getting a page pop up telling me it couldnt connect,i dont know what its trying to connect to the only clue is at the top of the page where it says C\windows\pop.htm does anyone have any idea how to stop this.Thanks in advanceqawse Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
catgate Posted April 23, 2009 Report Share Posted April 23, 2009 It looks as though some programme you are running is trying to connect to the 'net as one of its natural functions. I know next to nothing about XP, but I do know I have come across several Music apps. that get information from the .net as part of their "service". eg a Music Player going and gathering information about a CD that is being currently played. SP2 doesn't give a definite clue.Although your computer has never been connected to the Internet, there are still possibilities that it can get infected, e.g. by a used memory stick.If you cannot start the Task Manager "thingy" with Ctrl+Alt+Del, you can start it via Start | Run | taskmgr [enter].
