When I got it home, you could imagine my shock to find no USB, no CDR, not even Ethernet :0 There was a standard desktop power cord in the case, which clearly didn't fit, and after tearing through my rat's nest of collected cables, I was pleased to find the power cord for an old Nikon camera would power the laptop.. she started without batting an eye- right into windows 95 Well it started and I created a new user, which copied all the original user's files to mine. I wanted to get some input as to the best use for such a thing and perhaps some resources on how best to sanitize the existing OS since I don't have access to Win95 software.TIA Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Invariably, other than retaining as a curiosity, it is a total waste of time.If you are expecting a usable machine, forget it. As you have already found out, software is far from easy to obtain. Similarly, if you require hardware, remember W95 goes back to the days when a 1GB hard drive was considered a luxury and also to the time when Bill Gates remarked that 64KB of memory is enough for anybody. Replacement parts are well nigh impossible to obtain as NASA found out when they wanted spares and replacements for their computers (apparently not much more powerful than a few Sinclair Spectrum machines linked together). I've found myself quick becoming a technophile and anytime there has been a chance to get my hands on old hardware, I've taken it. I'd like this to maybe create doc files for my teenagers for homework. It might be nice to have ability to share files since I only have one machine in the house that has as floppy disk, and that's my server running Linux :|It's sad to think older machines become nothing but an exhibit in a museum somewhere.
