nataku007
Hello all. Lately a bunch of strange things have been happening to my computer. I'm not sure if it's remnants of a virus or some sort of bug.My brother-in-law put me on the Windows 7 Beta. I wasn't home to see if anything messed up during that change, but I know that the Windows.old folder he made to save my stuff ended up being corrupted so I was forced to delete. He didn't restore all of my files, a lot of them are still missing.Anyway, lately I've been noticing some issues that have steadily gotten worse to the point that I'm writing this in safe mode. o_oFirst, my taskbar was acting strange. It wouldn't show all of the open windows, and if I'd minimize something it wouldn't show it. I had a tough time of doing my normal activities. I also, if alt tabbed from a full screen game, cannot tab back in unless I highlight the preview on the taskbar and press enter. That's the only thing that's worked. I checked on google and around, but couldn't find a fix. I even reset the taskbar settings. Second, full screen games have been acting strangely in that the graphics are lagging when they never used to. I'm not sure if this is related to the other issues. One day my graphics card started archiving in the middle of the game, but has since not done so. Even my sims game seems to be lagging now.Now Firefox is behaving strangely, too, as well as my folders. I can't open a folder on my desktop or through any other means except if I open a notepad document and do so from there. When I click it, double click it, right click and press Open, highlight it and press Enter, or click Computer from my start menu... nothing happens at all. As far as Firefox goes, it won't save any new bookmarks and constantly resets my drop down for most viewed pages. (The url bar) Last night was the folder incident, and this morning I can't do much of anything without it freezing up completely on me. My scanner doesn't pick up anything but "low threats" and I've fixed/healed/quarantined anything that popped up. Still, I can't seem to solve anything. Whatever this is, it's sneaky.I appreciate your time and help on this, and will try and provide whatever info I can.
ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
Windows 7 will be, hopefully, a great OS. However, as you probably know, W7 is not a "production" OS yet; W7 is currently only in beta test.Beta test software is not expected to behave like a fully released software - it is for testing only. There is no support for W7; there are only the official feedback channels (to the developers). All this said, have you antivirus and other anti-malware programs installed? Are they up-to-date, and have you run full system scans? If they haven't found any malware, then the only thing I can recommend is to reinstall Windows. If you expect to make full use of your computer, revert to your original OS, and wait for W7 until it is fully released.
Dencandy
Also you could have a look at some Windows 7 Beta forums LIKE THIS ONE.
andsome
Personally, I would format and reinstall Windows, making sure that I had a really reliable firewall and AV program. Then i would tell my brother in law to leave my computer alone. :D
