I have a problem with my system restore (windows vista home edition). When i try to make a restore it seems that there is no previous restore point saved, and an error message appear that reports "system restore does not work in this system error:0x80042308. Does anybody have an idea about this problem and how i can fix it?

Do you have more than one hard drive or more than one partition on a single drive?

If so, try disabling System Restore on all but the main "C" drive.

I'm not very familiar with Vista but I do know that with XP, System Restore is unreliable or doesn't work at all if you try to use it on multiple drives.

Iam not able to change the settings in system restore at all!!!!but any way i don't think thats the problem because system restore worked perfect in the same 3 partition drive other times.

I feel that there is something more deeply amiss with your machine than just not being able to use System Restore.

Do you have a full system backup of your machine as it was before this occurred?

yes!!! I suspect if something is going wrong with spyware doctor and the option "make a restore point before scanning" witch is disabled by me.......i try to enable this option although but nothing change. Also i notice that mt autodefragment program magical defrag2 works always ( analyzing-defragmentation) when i open my computer....a thing that was not previously happened......i'll think a good option is to remove it from my computer......in any case it was useless.

note

by the way i'm thinking to turn my operating system to windows xp iam very disappointed with vista
