lilazndude1145 Posted July 1, 2009 Report Share Posted July 1, 2009 Hi, everyone. Yesterday, I booted up my computer and went around my usual business (forums, youtube, and whatnot). Then, my screen turned black. It was only for a few seconds, and then it stopped. Then, my mouse slowed down, and it happened again. This persisted for about five minutes, then it just stopped on its own. Today, when I turned it on again, I had the same problem. I've had this computer for about four to five months, and I've never had this problem. Also, my computer makes a weird noise when I first turn it on. It's a strange humming noise, like the CPU fan is out of place or something. But when I open up the case, I can't see anything wrong. The symptoms you describe could be due to overheating - possibly a failing or misplaced/misaligned fan. Usually, though, overheating is accompanied by a self-protecting shutdown of the system.There is usually a system monitoring facility on most modern computers.
