Gordon
Hello, I got a new laptop battery (Compaq presario) How long shall I recharge before the first time of usage... Right now it is plugged in and not turned on yet. So how long shall I wait?

Mlaningham
A lot of times on newer Laptops, the batteries are Smart Lithium Ion. That means that unless the Manual specifically says you need to charge it for *12* hours before use, then it is no longer necessary to do the first charge process like you would normally do in older Lithium Ion powered electronics. Hope this helps.
