ladivapr
Hi there!I would like to know if the Mcaffee firewall is a good one. I bought it already so I hope its a good one. I really need protection. I run a website and last month I had a hacker from www.virtualwebhelp.com Im disclosing the name so you guys beware if you run websites, this guy is real dangerous. So I dont know how but he got all my passwords to edit my website and was doing a mess, almost ruined my site and my boards and I freaked out. We believe he probably did by entering my pc and finding out my passwords as my pc was totally unprotected.Any other suggestions on how to protect my pc and my site?ladiva
mark2
Never used McAfee firewall, but it should do as it 'says on the tin', however it may be a bit resource hungry compared to the likes of Sygate.Did you get the problem before you installed the firewall? If he did manage to get info from your PC it was likely to be from a password stealer type trojan, some A/V do cover trojans but there are a lot out there, a dedicated trojan scanner would be a better bet than just your A/V and firewall against this sort of thing.Swatit is a freeware antitrojan scanner and I think it would be advisable to download, install and do a scan in case he still can gain your info somehow. Guest Nellie2
And if you have a look here click here for the link You will see a little article on securing your system for free that was written for us by our very own Redhat. Even though the products mentioned are free they are still very effective
Redhat
Swatit is a bit of a waste of time IMO.http://www.misec.nethttp://www.diamondcs.au.com Are better - they offer free trials. As for McAfee firewall, it will do it's job. Some like it, some dont.
