nordboh Posted September 10, 2009 Report Share Posted September 10, 2009 Does anybody know how to change the domain a user is connected to on a windows computer?I got a computer with some accounts, and one of the accounts has been set ut with the wrong domain. But I cant find any way to change it without making a new user. Look at the picture I added, the user called HALVOR with domain HALVOR is incorrect. Is there any way of changing the domain here?I use vista but I tried the same on a XP computer and seems like the same problem there. Changing the domain the computer is a member of is no problem, changing the domain the user is assigned to seems to be difficult..Edit: I just noticed the picture I added was in another language, since my computer is not set up in english, this is from control panel=>user accounts=>manage user accounts (I think it is named that in english)) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I am able to change the domain when I go to that place, but as far as I know this does only change the domain of the computer, not the domain of the user. What I want to change is thisControl panel=>user accounts=>manage accounts=>(look at picture, its unfortunatly in norwegian:) )The name at domain here is worng, and seems to be the cause of my problems. nordboh Posted September 17, 2009 Author Report Share Posted September 17, 2009 well, after doing some searchin and thinking, what I actually needed was to convert my local user into a domain user. And seems like that wont work converting a user like that. So the solution was to log on as asministrator on t he computer, copy all files from C:\documents and settings\<old username> and then copy then to C:\documents and settings\<new username>In that way I didnt have to set up all kinds of settings all over again, just waiting for the copying was done..
