Anhh86 Posted September 27, 2009 Report Share Posted September 27, 2009 My pc came with a factory made backup partition for windows xp, and was fine until recently. despite no files having been added to that "drive"(that is,the partition) it warns me it is almost full. can't access anything under it to see why, but the warnings are constant.Any ideas? Some new software you have installed?Recovery partitions are deliberately kept "tight" to allow as much of the hard drive as possible to be used for your own data.Some programs that claim to organise things for you (certain defragmenters for instance) are unable to appreciate that a recovery partition almost completely full is the way it is supposed to be.I have recently bought a laptop (my first in many, many years of computing). It came with a Windows disk (I insist on that) and a recovery partition. When I tried, I think it was Defraggler on the machine that software got in a panic telling me to do all sorts of things to release space on drive"D" (the recovery partition) when in fact it remained just as it was on delivery.
