unable to install printer operation could not be completed

Recommended Posts

Did you ensure that the printer was either disconnected or turned off before starting the installation? :D If not, use C Cleaner to clean out any residue from theabortives install and try again. Only switch on when instructed to do so.

What is the Windows version on the systems that fail? How do you add that printer - with the 'Add Printer Wizard"?

That is only required for a local printer (directly connected to the computer in question). When adding a network printer (on another computer), this is irrelevant.

I stand corrected, I have no experience of networking. :D

Please help,

i Just Install Network Printer with TCP/IP Port, The Printer is HP LaserJet P1505n, we have 40 Desktop PC, 35 Desktop Successed install that printer, but only 5 desktop PC have problem "unable to install printer operation could not be completed"

please give me your advice

Roy :D

How are the PC and printer configured and getting its drivers for the printer? Do you have it set up though a printer server with print ques and server side drivers? It could be that you need to fully remove the drivers from the 5 PCs in question and reinstall them manually before trying to reconnect to the printer. (be sure when you uninstall it that you remove the registry entry which is usually at [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows

NT\CurrentVersion\Print\Printers] before trying to reinstall)

Does the user have sufficient rights to add the printer? Might be worth doing a 'gpupdate /force' to allow the rights to update (only pertains to a domain environment of course)

Also, make sure the PCs are not having network issues - no IP conflicts - no DNS errors - no DHCP errors - has a correct IP on the same network as the printer (subnet and such)

Hope this helps
