hi all. need some help here.

my laptop is preinstalled with Vista and i want to add in XP.

i look around many areas. guides are available but somehow they are still kinda complicated for me.

maybe someone can simplify the methods of installing XP into my laptop and achieve dual boot of Vista and XP ? and also tell me important areas that i should take note of ?

by the way...i dont have Vista CD, and neither do i have the $ to buy partition HDD CD.

thanks !

There is no simple way to do it.

First you need to make sure you have a partition to install XP on. If you only have a C partition you will need to shrink it you can use the Disk Management utility in Vista (under computer>manage) . If you already have another partition (D,E,F...) make sure to back all important data there cause you are likely to install over it.

Install XP . If you have shrunk Vista's C partition then you will be installing it in "unpartitioned space", otherwise install it in D or E or whatever.

After installing XP install EastBCD and restore the Vista bootloader (more info here)

That should be it....

I do suggest reading a detailed HOWTO before attempting a dualboot and BACK UP all your important data.

easybcd is install on XP, right ?

also, install XP need to put in XP CD. the CD is when put it ? run the CD on Vista after partition of space or let the CD auto run during computer start up ?
