haug219
I am currently running Ubuntu 9.10 (linux) and I have a retail disk of Vista I want to install. It boots up fine on startup but when I go to install it says I need drivers and it won't recognize my hard drive. I installed the drivers from HP's website and put it on a CD and when it asked for it I put the CD in and nothing came up. I am thinking I have to use a flash Drive maybe? Help is appreciated, Thank you.
Hb_Kai
At which point of the installation and what drivers?
wide-load
If you do get Vista setup to recognize your drive it will probably format it to install Vista. You might loose your Ubuntu. Here's a suggestion. Put a new hard drive in the computer. Go into BIOS and change your hard drive boot order to boot the new drive first. Then install Vista on the new drive. Then after you have Vista working go back and make the Ubuntu drive boot first. Then install GRUB on the Ubuntu drive. This will allow you to boot either OS without them walking over each other. If you aren't sure how to install GRUB you can find instructions for that on the Ubuntu forums.
