Hi,

I bought Windows 7 Ultimate and already installed in few PC's.

And I have a Dell something with 2.5GHz Intel Pentium 4 with 1GB RAM, and wanted to know if Windows 7 Ultimate will run relatevily well on it ??

The AERO will NOT work, thats for sure... But then again thats not too important.

Microsoft says a PC has to have 1gig of RAM but have anyone of you running win 7 ultimate on a PC with 1 gig of ram ???

Oh and the version Id like to install is 32-bit.

W7 is less resource hungry than Vista and from what you state, it should be OK.

However, Dell have a reputation of being "non-standard" so it could be that there is something we are not aware of to prevent a successful install.

As you have already removed XP, there is nothing to lose by trying W7 in that machine.

Installed 7 and the drivers too, all exept audio and ethernet. Dont care about audio but I gotta have internet... DAMN !

Dell doesnt have win 7 drivers for dimension 4550, and googled for drivers for it but only found for win 200 and XP.

Looks like Im gonna have to put XP :(

Are you saying that Windows 7 does not find legacy drivers for your network card?

Can you check what network card you have installed?

Can you try DriverMax to see if it can find your missing Windows 7 drivers?

P.S. use the free version of DriverMax; you don't need to pay to download max. two drivers per day.
