Reggieroo Posted November 11, 2009 Report Share Posted November 11, 2009 (Vista) - I have been testing a Video editing program (trial version) and wanted to uninstall it. I couldn't see it in the control panel/Programs and Features to uninstall in the usual way, so I went into my Program Folder and deleted it. I now want to install it again and it is telling me to uninstall the program first (I hope I explained it ok). AlanHo Posted November 11, 2009 Report Share Posted November 11, 2009 Are the files still in your recycle bin...?Have you tried a system restore...?Do you have a backup of your C drive you can restore....?Have you run CCleaner to clean up your registry....?Are you sure the video program is suitable - it is strange for "proper" software not to be enered in Control Panel for future uninstallation. You might be better installing the new version of Windows Movie Maker - which is free.Thanks for your reply. I didn't think to look in the Recycle Bin. I have Restored it but now it doesn't load. Still cannot see it in the Control panel though. The program is "Cyberlink Power Director". On my Compaq laptop it runs a "Cyberlink YouCam" web cam. Given it is the same brand name one would think it is a reputable company and therefore have an 'uninstall" facility. How do I uninstall now? I am not very experienced at restoring etc. So haven't done a system restore at all.I did try the Windows Movie maker v6 that is on my computer - I wanted to try other versions for comparison etc. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

There are always ways to uninstall, even if there is no entry in Add/Remove Programs.If an application cannot be uninstalled the normal way, the best way to proceed is using Microsoft's Windows Installer CleanUp Utility.Other places to look for an uninstallerStart | Programs | ... | Uninstallthe install folder in Program Files; look for 'unwise', 'uninstall', etc.CCleaner | Tools | UninstallP.S. for some really stupid software (Symantec et al.) you have to go and download the uninstaller from the manufacturer's site!
