Accessing Password Protected Files From Old Installation

I have a hard drive with an old installation of Windows on it that I've connected as a secondary drive. I was hoping to be able to access all the files from my old account so that I could recover them. However, the old account was password protected and if I try to go to the My Documents folder from that account, it tells me 'access denied'. What can I do to get access to those folders? I can't boot off this old drive because the computer that it was in is now dead (which is why I ended putting it in this other computer in the first place.) Any ideas?
