Hb_Kai
My brother has asked me to help him out with a problem on his laptop and what it is, is he updated Vista the other day and after it being rebooted by the update, it had removed some of his files, mainly pictures. The icon is there when they're searched for in the start menu but when you click on the icons it says it cannot find the file. The pictures folder has gone too. So he tried system restore but still didn't work. I booted into a USB Ubuntu and all I could find was old deleted pictures and I don't know what else to do as they were my only ideas.Has anyone ever experienced this or know how to resolve it?Thanks. ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
I don't think that Windows Update has the ability to delete user files; something else must have happened.System Restore does not restore user files. Best option is to restore from a recent backup, or use Recuva.
Hb_Kai
I was thinking about trying Recuva but thought shouldn't the files be deleted first? But I'll give it a try anyway. Thanks Pat.
