Guest LB
Hi, someone has kindly donated a BT 5861 ADSL modem / Router to me.Unfortunately, there seems to be some issue with it. When plugged in, the power light flashes very faintly and then nothing happens. Upon further inspection and removal of the cover, i discovered that there is some rather yuck dried up brown gunk on the power transformer (i think that this is to step to power down before it is fed to the main PCB)The main PCB looks fine, with nothing there that shouldn't be.So, does anyone have any idea if i can get a new power transformer for this router(the connections are simple....and it looks easy enough to replace, in fact i took the old one out with no problems) in order to get this nice bit of kit working??? Agent Smith
I would think that if you can get the exact specifications for the power supply, you may be able to get a replacement from somewhere like maplins.Mr. M.
