Triple Boot Snow Leopard vista and 7 Boot Problem

Hi there.

I have triple boot Leopard, vista and 7. Windows 7 was the 1st one to be installed, vista 2nd and then Leopard. Installation is good. But after the installation of Leopard, vista didnt start, so i did this

I booted from Vista CD, then went to command Prompt and typed these commands

diskpart

select disk 0

select partition 3 (Vista Partition)

active

exit

bootrec /RebuildBCD

yes

diskpart

select disk 0

select partition 4 (OS X partition)

active

exit

Now when i rebooted, i again got Darwin boot loader with 4 choices

hd (0,1)

hd (0,2) Win7

hd (0,3) Vista

hd (0,4) Mac

mac works fine and when i go to Win 7 , it shows me the bootloader for Vista and Win 7, so i have to chose one from there, but the main problem is that when i select Vista from above shown Darwin Bootloader, i get this error BOOTMGR is missing, Press ctlr alt and delete to restart.

Any advice on how to fix this??

Bit of a strange thing to do. Trying to start to triple boot stuff with one of the operating systems that you have said in a post on the same day that you have no experience of ("BTW how is Windows 7 going? I havnt used it much") was a previous question from you after all.

I can see perhaps why you are running into problems.

What type of operating system are you trying to triple boot Leopard / Vista / Windows 7 on ?

Is this the Dell Inspiron that you have just bought that you are using for this project, or another machine in your Lab ?

Is this a MAC you are using with a Virtual Machine for the Windows systems ?

Is it the Windows 7 64-bit that you are trying to triple boot alongside Leopard and Vista ?

Are you posting a MAC question on a Windows forum by mistake ? (i.e Is this a MAC question or a Windows question ?)

If you are going off on a pathway on your own and experimenting with different things, - that is good.

Answers coming back to you about various procedures require the recipient of the question to know full details of the pathway you have chosen to take though. (Think of it as a prerequisite. B) )

In short, - what the bl**dy heck are you talking about here ? And why ? :)

Just trying to get to the bottom of what you are saying so that someone can understand the question and answer you in the best way possible

I wanna keep Windows 7 (Japanese Version that came installed) for my fellow Japanese Friends to use in different experiments.

Windows 7 64Bit/ Vista 32bit / Snow Leopard 10.6

Yes its the same PC (Dell Inspiron)

No Mac is not gonna run on Virtual Machine

Yes Windows 7 is 64bit.

No its not a Mac question, its a Windows Question, i wanna make my Bootloader working, EasyBCD is not working for me, so want a manual installation of BCD.

Windows 7 as i told is for my fellow Japanese friends who are going to help me in my experiments.

Windows Vista is English Version for me, so that i can install Visual Studio/Arduino and other programming environments.

Mac is for Mac/iPhone Development in xcode.

I assume that if you are trying to load Leopard onto the New Dell Inspiron in a triple boot situation alongside Windows operating systems that you are using a "Hackingtosh" solution on one of the partitions ?

For what it is worth, I personally would not be trying a triple boot under these conditions, not least because Leopard updates have a habit of corrupting Hackingtosh.

Bottom line ? Getting an Apple Operating System working on a Windows machine is very hit and miss and only do-able if you have a suitable Intel CPU. Plus the fact that Apple are trying very hard to stop this happening. To try to triple boot in this situation is asking for a lot of trouble.

So as not to over complicate, I've split it in two.

Getting an Apple Operating System working in a Windows environment is admirable...... So best left alone before it goes wrong.

Getting an Apple Operating System installed and working on a virtual machine within a Windows environment that wont boot properly is even more admirable.

I'm sure both Apple and Microsoft would be interested on how you acheived that.

Now that leaves the question, why do you need to triple boot at all if the apple operating system is basically working in a Windows environment ? You only need to dual boot Vista (English) and Windows 7 (Japanese) Yes ?

1st of all thanks for the reply. I ll look into that Link for share.

As far as Hackintosh is concerned, i dont think i had any kinda trouble in it since i got it working on my Other Toshiba Laptop 2 years ago, its working amazing well till date, but since that laptop is not a work laptop anymore so i had to take this challange of installing OS's on my work Laptop, Dell that is. My Toshiba Laptop also had Triple boot, with Vista, Leopard and Ubuntu but in that case i was using Grub Bootloader of Ubuntu, so all worked well.

So now a bit in a heck, done with all the kext (drivers) of Mac, only a triple boot is a problem, which i ll look into now. If dont i ll say Good Bye to Mac.
