Run as Adninistrator

Recommended Posts

Although I have played a bit with Windows 7 RC last year, I have no real experience with it.

Yesterday a friend of mine got a new laptop with Windows 7 (x64 Home Edition Premium), and I helped him to set it up. The W7 install went extremely quick, then we ran Microsoft Update and installed a few extras (MSE, JRE, Flash & Shockwave Player, Adobe Reader). All would install quickly, except for Adobe Reader, which would terminate with an error.

Thought I would try to run the downloaded installer as Administrator, but when right-clicking on the file, there was no such option.

Does anybody know how to run an executable 'as Administrator' on Windows 7?

That's what I was trying to do, but on my friend's Windows 7, there was no 'Run as Administrator' option on the right-click drop-down menu. So I was looking for another way to do it.

I use Windows 7. On some programs there IS the option to run as administrator after a right click, but on others I get a message that tells me that I need administrator privileges to do what I want, I just click OK. Never had a problem.smile.gif

...and sometimes, with Win 7, after I have completed an Install of a new program using "Run as Administrator" I then get an error type message pop up.

I cannot now remember the wording. It goes something like Re-Install using correct something or other.

Have you any idea what I am talking about, you may if you have experienced he same message telling you to go through the installation all over again. :(

Never had any problems installing anything except O'Foto now. MS Office 2000 is not 100% but I can get round the slight difficulties.cool.gif
