tuahaa
Well, we've got a really old (about 5 years old) computer and it has a complete fresh install of windows xp sp3. I've managed to install all the drivers for it, but it doesn't connect to the internet! It doesn't display any Local Area Network in Network Connections folder in the first place, and no matter what I do, I can't get ethernet working! the Internet worked when I ran Linux...Please help... =P
Alan2273
Have you checked in device management under the heading network adapters, to see if there are any red or yellow marks, as Linux provides its own drivers for the Ethernet, whereas with Windows they are generally installed from a motherboard CD. It turned out that I have to run all the services manually. For some reason, all the services set to 'automatic' don't start on startup. I've made a .bat file for the important ones (as well as all the ones required to connect to the internet, which fixes my network problem until the next restart), but I would really like to fix this problem. I've finally got windows update working... windows installer is having issues too.
